Stephen Steele Added to USA Swimming Banned for Life List

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, August 18. USA Swimming updated its Banned for Life list yesterday with the addition of Stephen Steele out of Florida.

Steele was arrested on March 31 and charged with lewd and lascivious battery, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 21 year old's ban date is July 17, 2012. Members of the banned list are afforded a 30-day appeal period before being added to the public version of the banned list.

Steele was in violated of Code of Conduct sections 304.3.6 and 304.3.18.

304.3.6
304.3.6 Conviction of, imposition of a deferred sentence for, or any plea of guilty or no contest at any time, past or present, or the existence of any pending charges, for (i) any felony, (ii) any offense involving use, possession, distribution or intent to distribute illegal drugs or substances, (iii) any crime involving sexual misconduct, or (iv) any criminal offense against a minor.

Any other material and intentional act, conduct or omission not provided for above, which is detrimental to the image or reputation of USA Swimming, a LSC or the sport of swimming.
