USA Swimming Sectionals, Santa Clarita: Tom Kremer Doubles on Night Two

SANTA CLARITA, California, July 26. PEAK Swimming's Tom Kremer earned wins in the men's 200m fly and 100m free as the Speedo Champions Series CA/NV Summer Sectionals continued at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.

Olivia Barker of the Sandpipers of Nevada claimed the first event on the schedule tonight, winning the 200m fly in 2:16.56. Palo Alto Stanford's Marie-Pierre Delisle hung on to finish second in 2:17.39, just in front of De Anza Cupertino's Hayes Hyde, who touched in 2:17.54. The men's 200m fly went to Peak's Tom Kremer, as he touched the wall in the only sub-2:00 swim of the day, a 1:59.98. Corey Okubo of Aquazot swam a 2:01.43 for second, while Justin DiFederico of College Area Swim Team rounded out the top three in 2:01.81.

Riley Scott of the Marin Pirates had the fastest final 100m of anyone in the women's 200m breast as she raced home to a win in 2:34.86. Sherri McIntee of Rancho San Dieguito earned second place honors in 2:35.79, while Ashley Tse of Brea Aquatics was third in 2:37.17. College Area's Brandon Meier overtook Canyons Aquatic's Nick Korth down the stretch to win the men's race in 2:20.04. Korth, who led by about half a second at the last turn, touched in 2:20.08. Marin Pirates' Thomas Mercurio claimed third in 2:24.17.

Irvine Nova's Courtney Mykkanen earned her first win of the meet in the women's 200m back, posting a 2:17.83 to narrowly defeat De Anza Cupertino's Laurence Delisle (2:18.00). Dannica Brennan of Team Rebel Aquatics placed third in 2:18.09. Jeremie Dezwirek of Palo Alto Stanford had the fastest time in the men's field at 2:02.16. Class Aquatics' Chase Bloch came in second at 2:02.92, with Palo Alto's Connor Stuewe in third (2:05.25).

In the final race of the evening, Palo Alto's Rachael Acker claimed a half second victory over Canyons' Abbey Weitzeil in the 100m free, 56.48 to 56.98. Orange County's Lindsey Engel rounded out the top three in 57.64. Peak's Tom Kremer picked up win number two on the night after recording the top time in the men's 100m free at 51.36. Dillon Virva of Northern Sierra emerged to take second in 52.19, followed by Tiger Aquatics' Taylor Moore (52.36).
