Penn Charter Takes Down U.S. National Age Group Record in Relay Action

LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania, July 21. THE foursome of Alessandro Boratto, Reece Whitley, Andrew Abruzzo and Connor Killion, representing Penn Charter Aquatic Club, shot down a U.S. National Age Group record during competition at the Middle Atlantic Senior Championships today.

The quartet of 12 year olds posted a sterling time of 4:22.44 in the men's 400-meter medley relay, trouncing the previous U.S. National Age Group record for boys 11-12 400-meter medley relay of 4:29.66 set by South Florida's Juan Lucas, Tristan Celestin, Julien Pinon and Alfredo Mesa in 2011. Penn Charter split the relay 1:04.91, 1:12.33, 1:04.24 and 1:00.96.

The record-setting performance is the second in two days that a U.S. National Age Group relay record has fallen. The Cincinnati Marlins took down the boys 10-and-under 200-meter medley relay last night with a 2:18.89.
