|AUSTIN, Texas, March 2. DURING the second night of racing at the American Short Course Championships held in Austin, Texas, Kathleen Hersey picked up a pair of victories.
Longhorn Kathleen Hersey nearly set a lifetime best in the women's 100 fly with a 51.69, just missing her best time of a 51.40 from the 2008 Texas Invitational. TPA's Cat Galletti placed second in 55.43, while Riptyde's Caitlin Casazze wound up third in 55.76. Hersey doubled up with a 52.98 to win the women's 100 back. Galletti took second here as well with a 54.60. TCCC's Lisa Bratton picked up third in 56.05.
Longhorn Garrett Weber-Gale topped the men's 200 free in 1:34.19. Texas' Kyle McNeilis (1:35.79) and Matt Belecanech (1:36.64) rounded out the top three. Longhorn Brendan Hansen cruised to victory in the men's 100 breast with a 52.92. Mizzou's Mark Conroy (54.07) and Texas' Matt Hoyland (54.11) placed second and third.
Texas' Tripp Cooper won the men's 100 fly in 47.08. DACA's Erich Peske touched just behind with a second-place 47.12. SMU's David Larsson placed third in 47.24. Texas' Patrick Murphy claimed the men's 100 back in 47.46. Stanford's Will Gunderson took second in 48.04, while TCU's Laszlo Gyurko placed third in 48.50.
TCCC's Lisa Bratton topped the women's 400 IM in 4:19.10, while Santa Clara's Chloe Isleta finished second in 4:24.66. BEND's Mackenzie Halligan placed third in 4:29.10. FSU's Juan Sequera took first in the men's 400 IM in 3:45.83. Texas A&M's Frank Simon placed second in 3:47.71, while Mizzou's Yaniv Shnaider wound up third in 3:47.72.
BCH Heatwave Sammy Harrison won the women's 200 free in 1:49.81. TCCC's Natilee Ruiz placed second in 1:50.81, while Miami's Daniela Johnson wound up third in 1:51.49. BCH Heatwave Mallory Harris claimed the women's 100 breast in 1:03.33, while BREA's Ashley Tse took second in 1:04.87. Miami's Annie Valls earned third in 1:04.91.
