USA Swimming Winter Nationals: Matt Grevers Captures 100 Back Crown

ATLANTA, Georgia, December 2. IN the final swim of the evening, Matt Grevers captured the men's 100 back crown at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals. Grevers popped a 53.26 for the win, just a bit back of his sixth-ranked season best of 53.14 from Summer Nationals.

Nick Thoman finished second in 53.64, shy of his fourth-ranked season best of 53.01 from Worlds. David Plummer took third in 54.56, while Adam Mania earned fourth in 55.06. David Russell (55.25), Jacob Pebley (55.30), Mathias Gydesen (55.54), Eugene Godsoe (55.70), Eric Ress (55.71) and Jack Conger (56.10) rounded out the championship finale.

Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or topped the B final in 55.89, while Charles Francis placed second in 55.91. Arkady Vyatchanin (56.05), Ryan Lochte (56.21), Omar Pinzon (56.24), Nick Trowbridge (56.75), Guy Barnea (56.79), Tobias Oriwol (56.88), Ben Hesen (56.94) and Pascal Wollach (57.71) earned the other consolation finishes.

Kohlton Norys claimed the C final in 55.83, while Marcin Tarczynski touched second in 56.04. Anthony Cox (56.58), Jake Tapp (56.84), Christian-Paul Homer (56.86), Reese Shirey (57.02), Grant Harding (57.15), Bryan O'Connor (57.49), Taylor Dale (57.65) and Marco Loughran (57.82) made up the rest of the heat.
