USA Swimming Long Course Nationals: Athens Bulldogs Downs Meet Record in Women’s 800 Free Relay

PALO ALTO, California, August 4. A quartet from Athens Bulldog downed the meet record in the women's 800 free relay at the USA Swimming Long Course Nationals.

Chelsea Nauta (2:00.22), Morgan Scroggy (1:59.81), Shannon Vreeland (1:59.76) and Megan Romano (1:58.35) turned in a time of 7:58.14 for the distance relay victory. That smashed the meet record of 8:07.44 set back in 1981.

NBAC's Elizabeth Pelton (1:59.87), Camryne Morris (2:00.81), Kelly Offutt (2:03.27) and Allison Schmitt (1:56.56) finished second in 8:00.51, while Stanford's Kate Dwelley (2:01.47), Maya Dirado (2:02.80), Andrea Murez (2:02.09) and Felicia Lee (2:01.89) took third in 8:08.25.

Colorado Stars (8:08.38), Tucson Ford (8:08.84), California (8:10.17), Palo Alto (8:10.38) and Trojan (8:10.46) rounded out the top eight spots in the event.
