BARCELONA, Spain, July 23. IN the one day of the week that features just prelims, Russia still stood atop the standings at the FINA World Championships in synchronized swimming. Today, they just didn't get the chance to watch their flag hoisted high after victory.

Vlada Chigireva, Daria Korobova, Alexandra Patskevich, Elena Prokofyeva, Alla Shishkina, Maria Shurochkina, Anzhelika Timanina and Svetlana Kolesnichenko made up the dominant Russian squad.

Spain, led by Ona Carbonell, collected 94.100 points, while Ukraine could collect another medal with a third-place 93.100 after prelims.
