2Samoas/1Ocean Wins Ocean Grant

AMERICAN SAMOA. December 16. THE National Marine Sanctuary Foundation has proudly announced eight awardees of the 2011 Ernest F. Hollings Ocean Awareness Trust Fund. Organizations across the country submitted proposals about marine mammals, non-point source pollution, marine debris, human health, and ocean acidification.

Bruckner Chase Ocean Positive, Inc. under the direction of Bruckner and Michelle Chase won one of those grants for their project, "2Samoas/1Ocean."

"The 2 Samoas/1 Ocean project will begin in April 2012 with ocean swimming clinics and inspirational presentations to youth, businesses and community groups in Independent & American Samoa to inspire others to discover their own personal connection to the oceans thus highlighting opportunities for marine safety and conservation action to benefit both human and ocean health.

This outreach will be followed by two long distance solo ocean swims by Bruckner Chase in both countries over a three-day period to connect various islands in the region. All project activities will be filmed and a documentary developed to launch at the BLUE International Film Festival and Conservation Summit before joining BLUE On Tour and being utilized globally to show the personal connection we all share with our oceans."

Bruckner Chase Ocean Positive, Inc. is a non-profit corporation committed to positively impacting how we feel, think and act towards our oceans.
