Swimming World Throwback Thursday Video: Katie Ledecky Dominates at 2012 NCSA Juniors

Katie Ledecky

ORLANDO, Florida, March 20. EVEN as Katie Ledecky roared through the 2012 edition of the National Club Swimming Association’s spring junior nationals, few would have imagined that they were watching someone who would win Olympic gold five months later.

Ledecky was beyond impressive at the meet, breaking national age group records and causing many to stop in their tracks and watch this rising talent. And we’re always happy to look back and be amazed at some of our current stars before they were famous.

In today’s Throwback Thursday video, we present Ledecky’s 800 meter freestyle from the 2012 NCSA championships. Though she was not rested for the meet, her 8:33.48 was still impressive, especially in hindsight. She won Olympic gold with an 8:14.63.
