PHOENIX, Arizona, January 29. FINA announced today that Chinese sprinter Li Zhesi received a two-year ban for testing positive last year for EPO, giving China a big loss in their sprint free relay arsenal. Li tested positive at the Chinese Olympic Trials, and was removed from the Olympic team, though FINA hadn't handed out the sanction until today. With the removal of the controversial IOC Rule 45, Li is eligible to compete at the 2016 Olympics once her suspension is complete.

Michael Phelps is in Phoenix this week to participate in the Annexus Pro-Am golf tournament, continuing his tour of golf courses around the world. Phelps' participation will be filmed for upcoming episodes of "The Haney Project," which will begin airing on the Golf Channel in late February. No word on whether this event carries a cash purse for the winner, but at the very least, it will give Phelps a chance to hone his golf skills. Swimming World will be on the golf course when Phelps tees off tomorrow morning, and we'll let you know how he fares on swimmingworld.com and on Twitter.
