PHOENIX, Arizona, August 11. MARCUS Titus won the 100 breast easily today at the deaf swimming world championships with a 1:01.15. Titus swam a 1:00.82 just last week at the USA Swimming nationals for third place there. A deaf world record was set in the women's 100 breast by Aksana Petrushenka of Belarus with a 1:12.34, breaking her own record of 1:13.49. You can read a full recap of today's races, which featured a lot of meet records, on swimmingworld.com.

Jasmine Tosky, who was named Swimming World's Co-Female High School Swimmer of the Year this month, won the 100 fly last night at the USA Swimming junior nationals in Palo Alto, California. Tosky, who lives in Palo Alto, swam a 59.51, which is a second faster than she swam last week at the senior nationals. Tosky swam on the prelim 800 free relay for the United States at the world championships.

After posting such a fast 800 on Monday, Katie Ledecky returned to win the 400 freestyle on Thursday with a 4:10.39. That time would have placed ninth at the senior nationals.

Another swimmer has been given a warning after testing positive for a banned substance. Liu Jing received a positive test for an immunosuppressant called prednisone at China's nationals on April 3. Liu was a member of China's 800 free relay at the world championships that won the bronze medal, and since she only received a warning, Liu and the rest of her relay teammates will keep the medal they won. According to a report from China, Liu had been taking the drug to fight an allergy and had reported the medication to FINA, but Liu stopped taking the medication a week before the Chinese nationals and did not believe the drug would show up in a positive test.
