SARASOTA, Florida, June 6. TROPICAL Storm Andrea, the first named storm of the 2013 hurricane season, made her mark on the proceedings at the Pan American Masters championships, halting the long course meet for several hours.

The meet was underway early this morning with the women's 400 individual medley, but was quickly stopped when wind and rain proved to be too much for officials and competitors. After a delay lasting more than three hours, competition was resumed with the men's 400 IM and the women's and men's 50 freestyle.

No world or USA national Masters records were broken today, though some got close as winds still blew hard over the pool. Erika Braun, who competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials at age 40 in the 50 freestyle, swam a 27.01 in the event today, just missing Edith Ottermann's world record of 26.44. Dara Torres holds the U.S. Masters national record with a 24.25 from the 2008 Olympic Trials, which was not counted as a Masters world record because it was not done in an official Masters competition.
