Arena Becomes Official Technical Sponsor of University of Texas Women’s Swimming

PORTLAND, Oregon, January 14. ARENA, a leader in the field of competitive swimwear, has been named the official technical sponsor and training and competition apparel provider of The University of Texas Women’s Swim team. The contract means the seven-time NCAA champions (nine overall with two AIAW titles) will wear Arena’s best-in-industry racing technology through the 2016-17 season.

“The University of Texas Women’s Team is an accomplished and talented group of athletes, and we are proud to officially add them to Team Arena,” said Tim McCool, vice president and general manager of Arena North America. “The growing number of elite athletes and teams that are choosing Arena is an excellent indicator of the success of our racing and training technology. Arena is committed to remaining a leader in the area of racing and training technology, and we are certain we will only see our athlete base grow as we continue to innovate.”

“Texas is privileged to have Arena as a sponsor of our program,” said UT Women’s Athletics Director Christine Plonsky. “Our head coach, Carol Capitani, and her staff have our Longhorns squad positioned for a strong post-season stretch. Arena provides us with quality technology and a tremendous support team as we vie for championships. Texas is extremely appreciative of this partnership, which supports our student-athletes in a first-class manner.”

In December of 2012, Arena signed a partnership with USA Swimming, naming the Portland-based company as exclusive outfitter of the U.S. National Team and title sponsor of the Grand Prix Series. The Arena Grand Prix Series visits Austin this week, beginning Friday, January 17 and continuing through Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Center. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. CT followed by finals at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets are required for all sessions and can be purchased at www.universityoftexas.edu/longhornaquatics/store.html or at the JTSC Store.
