Chesterton High School Beats National Public School Record in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 1. AT the Indiana State High School Boys Championships, the Chesterton High School boys squad lowered the national public school record in the 200-yard medley relay.

The foursome of Aaron Whitaker (21.90), Jack Wallar (25.12), Blake Pieroni (21.61) and Gary Kostbade (21.01) turned in a 1:29.64 to not only win the race by more than three seconds, but also to undercut the previous public school record held by Saline High out of Michigan.

A year ago in Michigan, the quartet of David Boland (22.75), Josh Ehrman (25.20), Michael Bundas (22.19) and Adam Whitener (19.87) put together a 1:30.01 for the public school mark.

The overall and independent school record of 1:27.47 still stands well ahead as set by The Baylor School’s Luke Kaliszak (21.81), Dustin Tynes (24.83), Sam McHugh (21.02) and Christian Selby (20.08) two weeks ago.
