Joe Schooling Lowers National Independent High School Mark in 100 Fly Prelims at Fl. State Champs

STUART, Florida, November 8. JOSEPH Schooling is on a mission to regain the overall national high school record in the 100-yard butterfly, and he nearly got it back this morning with a 45.90 in the prelims of the 1A Florida state high school championships.

Though he did not beat Caeleb Dressel’s public and overall national record of 45.89 that was set in late September, Scholing did lower his own independent high school record of 46.20 that he set in the same race Dressel set the overall record.

Schooling will have a final chance to set the overall national record in the 100 fly in tonight’s finals, and hope that Dressel does not beat him tomorrow’s 2A competition.
