Black, according to our correspondent Jonathon Delzell on deck at the meet, ripped through the event with a smoking time of 46.71. That performance beat the national public school record of 47.08 set by Madison's Sean Fletcher in Virginia in 2009. Tonight's effort did not, however, lower the overall and independent school record of 46.50 clocked by Bolles' Joseph Schooling in Florida last November.
Black's lifetime best coming into this weekend had been a 48.12 from November 2012 while representing the Cats Aquatic Team. Black also earned a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team on the club circuit, and is headed to Stanford University in the fall as a future Cardinal.
