Texas Two-Step as Longhorns Claim Second Top-15 Recruit in Will Glass

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 16. WHILE nearly all of the top female swimmers in the country have already committed, the men of the Class of 2013 are starting to slowly make their decisions. Alabama's Will Glass has decided that he will join legacy Clark Smith as future Longhorns.

Glass made the call to Texas head coach Eddie Reese, and will head to Austin after completing his senior season with the City of Mobile Swim Association. Swimming World five-star recruit Glass is a backstroke specialist with some butterfly versatility, having senior national cuts in the 100-meter back (56.88), 200-meter back (2:02.99) and 100-meter fly (54.03). Meanwhile, he has strong short course yard times in the 100 back (48.31) and 200 back (1:45.72), and also has a 48.46 to his credit in the 100-yard fly.

“I'm extremely excited to have an opportunity to be a part of the swimming tradition at the University of Texas,” Glass told Swimming World. “I got a great feeling from the coaching staff and swimmers on my recruiting trip, and felt that Austin was the best place for me to take my swimming to the next level. I can't wait to swim for Coach Reese.”

Glass is the top-ranked swimmer out of Alabama according to CollegeSwimming.com, and is ranked ninth in the country by that recruiting service as well. Along with 12th-ranked Smith, who followed his UT alum parents' footsteps as a Longhorn, Texas now has two of the top 15 swimmers in this class with plenty of time left to add to that haul.
