Canada's Kristina Steins Heading to U.S. For College -- October 9, 2012

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 9. IT is definitely the committing season as high school seniors are making their decisions at a swift rate this fall. Today, Swimming World five-star prospect Kristina Steins out of Burlington, Ontario, Canada committed publicly to Louisville's Arthur Albiero.

Steins best times are in the backstroke events, posting top long course meter efforts of 1:02.64 in the 100 and 2:18.14 in the 200. These times demonstrate that having good training partners help, as Steins trains at the Dolphins Swim Club of Oakville. That swim club produced current Florida freshman Sinead Russell, who swam in the finals of the women's 200 backstroke at the 2012 London Olympics before finishing eighth.

"I am very happy to commit to the University of Louisville Cardinals swim team school for 4 years, and feel that this program will be a great fit for both my swimming and academic needs," Steins told Swimming World. "I am looking forward to competing as a Cardinal and helping the team increase their success in all their future competitions. I am really thrilled to be working with Coach Arthur Albiero and his team."

Steins is fully focused on improving during her senior year, while prepping at Burlington Central, before heading to college.

"This season I will be training harder to be ready for the University season next year," Steins told Swimming World. "I also have the World Long Course Championship Trials with my current teammates and hope to contribute to their success."

Steins is Louisville's first public commitment.
