Brea’s Ashley Tse Staying Close to Home With Commitment to UCLA

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 9. SWIMMING World four-star recruit Ashley Tse will be remaining close to home as she has decided to give UCLA's Cyndi Gallagher her pledge to compete as part of the Class of 2013.

Tse, who trains with Brea Aquatics and preps at Ayala High, hails from Chino Hills, Calif., and is a breaststroke specialist who also can provide depth in the IM events. Tse already has an NCAA Division I B cut time in the 200-yard IM with a 2:01.22, and has some strong times in the long course meter breaststroke events (100 (1:12.95), 200 (2:35.80).

“UCLA has a great academic reputation,” Tse told Swimming World. “I just fell in love with the campus. I know Coach Gallagher will be a great coach for me. The team is hard working and fun to be around. It is such a great fit. I am very excited to be a Bruin.”

Tse, the eighth-ranked recruit in the state of California by CollegeSwimming.com, joins a growing recruiting class for Gallagher as five-star Madison White and four-star Margaret Burton have both made their pledges to be future Bruins. White was one of the earliest commitments this year, committing in April, while Burton made her choice last week.
