BUFFALO, New York, November 25. ONE state record fell during the New York State Public High School Girls Swimming Championships Nov. 17-19 in Buffalo. The meet was swum in short course yards.
The Niskayuna 400 free relay of junior Kina Zhou, sophomore Mikayla Frodey and seniors Emma Terwilliger and Maggie Jordan set the new standard with their 3:28.84. The other relay champions were the Christian Brothers Academy 200 medley relay of juniors Summer Schmitt, Kathryn Coughlin, Lexy McCauley and Maggie Fletcher (1:46.74) and the Clarence 200 free relay of sophomores Dina Rommel, Rebecca Anthone, Sydney Modeas plus junior Claire Willis (1:37.36).
Sewanhaka junior Olivia Chan enjoyed victory in both the 100 breast (1:02.76) and the 200 IM (2:03.57). Brittany Friese, a junior at Newburgh, and Lindsay Schlichte, a junior at Garden City, tied for the 500 free title in 4:52.07. Friese went on to claim a second triumph in the 200 free (1:49.82).
Other event champions included Clarence sophomore Dina Rommel in the 50 free (23.48); Niskayuna's Zhou in the 100 free (50.65) and Jordan in the 100 fly (55.93), Guilderland senior Jenna Bickel in the 100 back (55.93) and Ballston Spa sophomore Addison Walkowiak in the 1-meter event (505.15).
There was no team scoring kept.
