INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, January 30. THE United States has received invitations in five events for the upcoming 2014 FINA Diving World Series, an invitation-only series for the top finishers from the 2013 FINA World Championships.

The United States received two individual invitations, with David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.) and Tori Lamp (Knoxville, Tenn.) selected to dive in the 10-meter events at the World Series. Boudia won the silver medal in men’s 10-meter in Barcelona last summer, while Lamp finished 10th in the women’s final.

Team USA also was invited to dive in three of the four synchronized diving events at the World Series, earning invitations in men’s synchronized 3-meter and both women’s 3-meter and 10-meter synchronized events. Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Austin, Texas) and Michael Hixon (Amherst, Mass./Austin, Texas) placed fifth in 3-meter synchro at last year’s World Championships. Both U.S. women’s teams finished seventh in Barcelona, with Amanda Burke (Southampton, Pa./State College, Pa.) and Samantha Pickens (Murrysville, Pa./Tucson, Ariz.) competing together on 3-meter and Samantha “Murphy” Bromberg (Bexley, Ohio/Austin, Texas) and Cheyenne Cousineau (Temperance, Mich./Coral Gables, Fla.) diving on 10-meter at the World Championships.

Due to scheduling conflicts, not all invited divers will be able to participate in all meets on the 2014 World Series circuit. Boudia, Burke and Dumais will compete in five meets, with Cousineau, Lamp and Pickens set to compete in three, and Bromberg and Hixon in two.

World Series invitations in the individual events are for the specific diver, but substitutions are permitted in the synchronized events. Boudia will dive synchro with Dumais in the three meets Hixon is unable to attend, and Deidre Freeman (Grinnell, Iowa) will pair with Burke in two meets. Anna James (Midland, Texas) and Jessica Parratto (Dover, N.H./Bloomington, Ind.) will compete in synchronized 10-meter at the first meets, with James pairing with Gracia Leydon Mahoney (Newton, Mass.) in the second meet, and Cousineau and Parratto diving together in meet three. Cousineau and Bromberg will compete together in the last two stops for Team USA.
