BARCELONA, Spain, July 26. IT's not the clean sweep China was hoping for as a repeat of the 2011 Shanghai Championships, but it's about as close as you can get to pure domination from the Chinese in diving competition at the FINA World Championships.

He Chong delivered China its seventh gold medal of the week thus far with a jaw-dropping 544.95 points to win by more than 30 points. Russia's Evgeny Kuznetsov finished a distance second with 508.00 points, while Mexico's Yahel Castillo picked up bronze with 498.30 points.

He nearly blew it, however, during the third round as he had just the seventh-ranked dive that round to fall to third. It only took two more dives however, before he threw down a stunning 102.60-point dive in the fifth round to lock down the win.

The women's three-meter springboard semifinals also took place with He Zi (370.00) and Wang Han (362.40) capturing the top two spots heading into finals. Canada's Jennifer Abel (344.10) and Mexico's Paola Espinosa (334.50) will be trying to play the role of spoiler after qualifying third and fourth.
