Fifteen Divers On USA World Championship Roster

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, May 21. THREE of the American divers who won Olympic medals last summer in London look to repeat or improve on their Olympic performances this summer at the FINA world championships in Barcelona.

David Boudia, the lone gold medalist among the Americans last year, will face strong competition in the platform event, as he did last summer to win gold. In addition to the gold medal in the individual platform event, Boudia claimed bronze in London in the synchro platform event, but will not be contesting that in Barcelona.

Troy Dumais and Kristian Ipsen won bronze on the synchro 3-meter springboard at the Olympics, but only Dumais will dive in that event at worlds. Dumais will participate in his eighth world championships and will be looking for his sixth medal.

Despite not competing in the synchro 3-meter, Ipsen will have a full schedule, participating in the individual 1-meter and 3-meter events in Barcelona.

Though Olympic medalists Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant will not be traveling to worlds this year, the women's team still shows promise. Tori Lamp was named to her first international squad after winning the platform event last week, while national team veteran Amy Cozad joins her along with eight others on the women's team.
