FINA World Junior Diving Championships Kick Off Today

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, October 8. AUSTRALIA's Southern city Adelaide will host the 19th edition of the FINA World Junior Diving Championships from October 8-13, 2012.

About 220 divers from 34 countries will compete at the new SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, including home hero Brittany Broben, Olympic silver medallist in the women's 10m platform and British Thomas Daley, who clinched the bronze in the men's 10m platform at the 2012 London Olympics.

The event, organised in even years, provides the world's up-and-coming talents the opportunity to perform on the international stage. The competition is divided into two age groups (A and B): Group A is for divers from 16 to 18 and Group B for divers from 14 to 15 years old.

The competition programme includes the following events: individual 1m, 3m springboard and 10m platform, and 3m springboard synchro for both men and women.

The 34 nations that will be represented in Adelaide are: Australia, Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States of America and Venezuela.
