Canadian Diver Alexandre Despatie Sustains Gash to Forehead in Training

MADRID, Spain, June 14. DURING a training session ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix being held this weekend, Canadian diver Alexandre Despatie sustained a gash on his forehead, which required surgery at a local hospital to close the wound, according to CBCsports.ca.

Despatie, an Olympic medal contender, will be out of training for up to three weeks after sustaining a gash nearly four inches long. Luckily, Despatie dodged any permanent or concussive injury after falling off and hitting his head on the springboard.

Despatie has already taken to Twitter to raise the spirits of his fans.

'Thanks so much for the support everyone!! The surgery went well and I will give you guys an update soon!! #olympicdreamstillalive here'
