AUSTIN, Texas, March 27. LEGENDARY coaches Eddie Reese and Gregg Troy visited the media room after the first evening of competition at the NCAA Men’s Division I Swimming and Diving Championships to talk about their teams’ performances and the bizarre day involving relay disqualifications.

Reese, whose Texas Longhorns are in the lead after the first day, remarked that the competition this year is more intense than ever and that his team is just racing hard and stepping up to the challenge as needed. He also commented on the divers, who played a big role in giving Texas the advantage going into the second day of competition.

As for Troy, he had high expectations for his swimmers today, and most of them were met not only in prelims but in finals. He felt proud that the Florida Gator tradition of winning the 200 IM at the NCAA meet continues, and commented on Marcin Cieslak beating Ryan Lochte’s pool record and approaching Bradley Ally’s NCAA record.
