Video: Gregg Troy Analyzes Gator Performances Against Georgia

GAINESVILLE, Florida, November 4. THE anticipated matchup between Georgia and Florida in the pool last Friday resulted in a loss for the Gators’ women’s team and a win for the men, as well as some lessons for head coach Gregg Troy to carry through the season.

“We were pretty pleased with what we saw, and we had some pretty good competition along the way,” Troy said in a press conference today. “We’re in a pretty good place on both sides.”

Despite the loss marking the second-straight defeat on the women’s side, Troy put a positive spin on the meet, including some improved performances from athletes who were not as impressive in the last dual meet with California. A loss is hard to take, Troy said, but in swimming a dual meet does not break a team.

“It’s very much about what the end of the year is going to be like,” he said. “The actual performances were pretty good, and we had three women that were tremendous individually. Natalie Hinds, Elizabeth Beisel and Sinead Russell were very, very good individually. That bodes well for the end of the year.”

Next up for Florida is a dual meet with conference foe Alabama on Thursday.
