Joyce Kwok Pops a Pair of NCAA B Cuts in LIU Post’s Win Over Central Connecticut

NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut, October 12. THE LIU Post Pioneers claimed a 165-94 victory over hosts Central Connecticut State on Saturday in a strong outing. Coming off a loss to Wagner LIU Post had some extra motivation and took care of business against CCSU.

LIU Post’s Joyce Kwok had a really strong day to lead the Pioneers. She turned in a swift 2:04.39 to dominate the women’s 200-yard fly, clearing the NCAA B cut in the process. She also beat the NCAA B cut in the 100-yard fly with a winning time of 56.14, before taking second behind Johanna Pettersson just missed an NCAA B cut of her own with a winning time of 2:04.73 in the women’s 200-yard back. Kwok clocked a 2:07.96 in the backstroke event.

Pettersson doubled up with a 58.70 in the 100-yard back for a second win on the day, while Tamara Garriock snared the 100 breast in 1:07.29. Garriock won her second individual title of the day with a 2:26.46 in the 200 breast. Garriock then tripled with a 2;09.36 in the 200 IM.

Marthe Soerensen touched out CCSU’s Christine Rasile in the 50 free, 25.03 to 25.04. Meghan Brazier then won the 100 free in 54.02. Malin Hedberg also had a close win with a 5:22.05 to 5:22.09 win ahead of CCSU’s Karen Novak in the 500 free.

In relay action, Pettersson, Tamara Garriock, Kwok and Meghan Brazier won the 200 medley relay in 1:47.85, while Marthe Soerensen, Courtney Delehanty, Seren Jones and Brazier picked up the 400 free relay crown in 3:40.97.

Kathryn Kiely and Christine Rasile led the Blue Devils with the only two CCSU wins of the meet. Kiely won the 1000 free in 10:53.23, while Rasile captured the 200 free in 1:57.18.
