Elizabeth Beisel Nearly Breaks 4:00 In-Season at Ohio State Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio, December 1. FLORIDA and Stanford claimed the bulk of the top performances during day two at the Ohio State Invitational, while Olympian Elizabeth Beisel represented the Gators very well with a swift 400 IM.

Florida's Elizabeth Beisel posted a stunning time of 4:00.61 to win the women's 200 IM and lock down her appearance in the event at the NCAA Championship, clearing the A cut by more than five seconds. Stanford's Maya Dirado (4:06.48) and North Carolina's Cari Blalock (4:07.51) took second and third. Florida's Sebastien Rousseau earned an NCAA A cut in the men's 400 IM with a 3:41.69. Teammates Dan Wallace (3:44.23) and Connor Signorin (3:45.60) placed second and third in the finale.

Florida's Ellese Zalewski (52.26) and Natalie Hinds (52.76) went 1-2 in the women's 100 fly, while UNC's Katie Nolan wound up third in 52.82. OSU's Tim Phillips claimed the men's 100 fly title in 47.03. Wisconsin's Dan Lester (47.27) and OSU's Tamas Gercsak (47.42) took second and third.

Stanford's Andi Murez (1:45.16) and Julia Anderson (1:45.64) posted a 1-2 finish in the women's 200 free, while UNC's Stephanie Peacock touched third in 1:46.19. Florida's Pawel Werner won the men's 200 free in 1:34.81, while OSU's Zach Holmes (1:35.83) and Alex Miller (1:36.36) claimed second and third.

After posting an NCAA A cut 59.38 during prelims, Notre Dame's Emma Reaney won the women's 100 breast finale in 1:00.04. Stanford's Sarah Haase (1:00.40) and Katie Olsen (1:00.44) completed the top three. OSU's Tyler Stevenson won the men's 100 breast in 54.00, while Florida's Eduardo Solaeche Gomez (54.16) and Matt Elliott (54.60) placed second and third.

Florida's Sinead Russell captured the women's 100 back title in 52.80, while Stanford's Maddy Schaefer placed second in 53.03. Notre Dame's Kim Holden took third in 53.07. OSU went 1-2-3 in the men's 100 back with Connor McDonald (47.46), Gary Trebilcock (47.77) and Steven Zimmerman (48.06) rounded out the top three.

Florida's Sinead Russell, Hilda Luthersdottir, Ellese Zalewski and Natalie Hinds won the women's 200 medley relay in a 1:38.37. Ohio State's Steven Zimmerman, Tyler Stevenson, Tim Phillips and Jason Schnur earned the men's 200 medley relay triumph in 1:26.79.

Stanford's Maya Dirado, Maddy Schaefer, Julia Anderson and Andi Murez won the women's 800 free relay in 7:03.18, while Florida's Sebastien Rousseau, Marcin Cieslak, Dan Wallace and Pawel Werner won the men's 800 free relay in 6:21.84.

In diving, OSU's Cheyenne Cousineau won the women's one-meter with 293.70 points, while Stanford's Kristian Ipsen smashed the men's three-meter with 443.60 points.
