Industry News: U.S. Masters Swimming Giving Scholarships to College Swimmers

SARASOTA, Florida, April 10. THE Swimming Saves Lives Foundation, the charitable arm of USMS, with a purpose of encouraging more adults to choose swimming as part of their health, fitness, and lifestyle, will be giving five, $1,000 scholarships to college swimmers. The scholarships are for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Applicants must be 18 years or older, must be swimming for a college club program, must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and will be required to submit a 150-word essay why they like swimming. NCAA athletes are encouraged to check with their compliance department before applying.

The application deadline is June 22, 2012. Swimmers receiving scholarships will be notified the week of July 23, 2012. Scholarship recipients will be required to attend the USMS annual convention September 14-16, 2012 in Greensboro, North Carolina. USMS will pay for the registration, airfare, and hotel for the scholarship recipients.
