FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 22. TEXAS' Jimmy Feigen clocked his third 19.0 time of the day, this time with a 19.01 to capture the men's splash-and-dash at the NCAA Division I Men's Championships.

The swim gave Texas only its third sprint king title, joining Kris Kirchner (1981) and Shaun Jordan (1991) as previous Longhorns to win the title. Based on the timing of the wins, it looks like Texas wins the sprint title at least once a decade.

Southern California's Vlad Morozov picked up second in 19.08, while Ohio State's Jason Schnurr turned in a third-place time of 19.46. Stanford's Aaron Wayne (19.47), California's Seth Stubblefield (19.57), North Carolina's Steven Cebertowicz (19.61), Clemson's Eric Bruck (19.61) and Auburn's Drew Modrov (19.62) also vied for the sprint title.

California has owned the outside lanes thus far tonight. Tyler Messerschmidt topped the consolation heat with a 19.45 from lane eight. Arizona's Adam Small took second in 19.46, while Auburn's Karl Krug placed third in 19.49. Florida's Brad Deborde (19.50), California's Shayne Fleming (19.52), Texas A&M's John Dalton (19.55), Georgia's Michael Arnold (19.65) and Auburn's Marcelo Chierighini (19.65) posted the other B final times.

California became the first team to crack 100 points, jumping out to a big lead with 117.5 points. Stanford sat second with 93 heading into diving, while Auburn (78.5), Arizona (75) and Texas (69.5) stood third through fifth. Southern California owned 69 points to be just outside the top five.
