Georgia Tech Invite, Day Three

ATLANTA, Georgia, November 20. AFTER three days of competition, the Georgia Tech men's and women's swimming and diving squads finished in fourth place at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The women's team notched 606 total points while the men's team earned 630.5 points over the course of the meet.

"This was just a fantastic meet for both the men and the women," said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. Today marks the end of phase one for our team so we will get back to winter training, use this momentum to work hard and starting preparing for championship season."

Virginia Tech earned the victory among the men's schools while Florida took second and Florida State finished third. Florida took home first among the women's teams while Florida State took second and Virginia Tech placed third.

Elliott Brockelbank started the finals off with a ninth place finish in the mile (1,650-Free), touching the wall in 15:50.98. Sam Morgan and Andreas Nilsson also talked points on the day for the Yellow Jackets during the grueling race as Morgan took 17th (16:02.80) and Nilsson rounded out the scorers with a 20th place (16:07.66) finish. On the women's side, Hailey White was the top Tech finisher with an 11th place showing, finishing in 17:02.01.

Anton Lagerqvist continued his success into the 200-Breast with a third place performance finishing in 2:00.45. Johnnie Hermes also took part in the A-Final and brought home a seventh place finish in the event with a time of 2:05.84.

The women's team had much success in the 100-Free as Lexi Weber brought in her third top-5 finish of the weekend with a fifth place showing and a 50.39 finish, just shy of the NCAA `B' cut time. Kate Riley also finished in the top-10 with her ninth place finish touching the wall in 51.27. After winning the swim-off earlier in the day, Jessie Mason made the most of it winning the B-Final with a 51.14 second finish while Sarah Broadley took 14th (51.56) and White took 19th (52.28) to round out the scorers.

Jake Johnson took home 12th in the men's side of the 100-Free with a 45.72 finish while Andrew Chetcuti earned the 14th place showing finishing in 45.87 and Nigel Plummer took 20th in 47.08.
Heidi Hatteberg and Keren Siebner went 1-2 in the B-Final of the 200-Back with 11th (1:59.82) and 12th (2:00.74) place finishes respectively. On the men's side of things, Nicholas Colletti had a good showing in the A-final with a seventh place finish of 1:50.03. Bo Hatchett earned a 12th place finish (1:49.90) and Wilson Wei rounded out the scorers with a 16th place, 1:51.40 finish.

Also seeing a top-10 finish was Mike Hart who took home ninth in the 200-Fly with a time of 1:51.42.

Chris Khosravi was the sole diver in action on the day and he took home fourth place in the platform dive with a total of 336.70 points.

Tech finished out the meet with a couple of third place finishes in the 400-Free Relay as the women's team of Siebner, Weber, Mason and Riley combined for the 3:23.07 finish while the men's squad of Andrew Kosic, Eric Chiu, Chetcuti and Johnson took home the 3:00.96 finish.

Tech will resume their regular season in the new year when they head to Ft. Myers, Fla. For a quad meet with Florida Gulf Coast, Liberty and North Dakota on January 7th. Some Jackets will be in action in the first weekend of December at Short Course Nationals which will be held at the GT Aquatic Center from December 2-4.
