Drury Invite, Day Two

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri, November 19. THE Drury University men's swimming and diving team finished second behind Incarnate Word at the First Annual Drury Invite victory in four team field Saturday evening at Breech Pool.

The Panthers Igor Kowal won the 200 Free (1:41.06) and placed second in the 100 Free (46.98) to pace the Panthers. DU diver Dwight Baker was second in both the one and three meter boards. Also chipping in and scoring key points for DU was Daniel Swietlicki and Jesse Lawrence who each placed second, Swietlicki in the 100 Back and Lawrence in the 100 Breast.

Incarnate Word won the meet with 1,147 points, DU was second with 850.5, Missouri S&T third with 805 and Washington University (Mo.) fourth with 505.5.

Up next for the Drury squad will be the University of Missouri Invite in Columbia on December 1-3.

The Drury University women's swimming and diving team captured the First Annual Drury Invite victory in the field of three teams Saturday evening at Breech Pool.

Leading the way for the Panthers and winning multiple events were diver Laurel Bartholomew in the one meter with 420.25 points and in the three meter with 417 points and Katia Alyabyeva with victories in the 400 IM (4:32.50) and the 200 Breast (2:20.31).

Drury who won the meet with 1,195 points, ahead of Incarnate Word who finished with 977 and Washington University (Mo.) who finished with 714 won three relays Saturday, taking the 200 Medley, the 400 Free and the 800 Free Relays.

The Panthers dominated the competition in the pool Saturday with a mass of swimmers who took home first place finishes. Today's Panther winners were Erin Dolan who won the 1000 Free (10:17.46) and placed second in the 400 IM (4:34.77). Jacquelyn Haines won the 100 Fly (58.94), Tinsley Andrews captured the 200 Free (1:55.01), Tiffany Bell took the 100 Back (59.79), Hillary Ottaviano won the 200 Fly (2:10.28), Molly Brown took the 200 Back (2:09.07) and Wai Tin Yu won the 100 Free (52.34).

Up next for the Drury squad will be the University of Missouri Invite in Columbia on December 1-3.
