Washington State Signs Two Capital Aquatics Recruits

PULLMAN, Washington, November 15. LOREE Olson and Presley Wetterstrom have each signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in women's swimming at Washington State, Cougar Head Coach Tom Jager announced, Monday.

Olson and Wetterstrom both currently swim for a competitive swim team based in Roseville, Calif., the California Capital Aquatics, under coach Debbie Walker.

"This is a great start to our first recruiting class because we got two quality kids out of a quality program in California, the California Capital," Jager stated. "It shows the direction we are going, we are looking for quality kids from quality programs so that we can take them to the next level."

Olson, who attends Whitney High School in Rocklin, Calif., was named a 2010-2011 Scholastic All-America Team member by USA Swimming and she earned Summer Jr. National standards at the 2011 Speedo Jr. National Championships.

"Loree is a great swimmer with the potential to be an even better swimmer," quoted Jager. "She's fiery, she's outspoken and she's got a great upside. She's a great swimmer and we're looking at her to become a great competitor along with that when she comes."

Wetterstrom, an attendee of Colfax High School in Colfax, Calif., specializes in the breaststroke. She was named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team member for the past two years. She placed fifth in the 100-meter breast at the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships and seventh in the 200 individual medley. Wetterstrom also earned Summer Jr. National standards at the 2011 Speedo Jr. National Championships.

"Presley has the mindset to be a great Cougar," said Jager. "She's very independent, she's very self-driven, and I think she understands that her success in life is going to come through her heart and her desire, and we're going to guide it. She's going to be a great Cougar, a great leader for our team."

Jager added, "With the correct coaching and the correct chemistry in a team, these all become very important individuals. That's why we recruited two kids off of the same team, because I like what Debbie Walker does at California Capital. Her kids understand that it's more than just swimming, it's about how you conduct your business all the time."
