George Washington vs. Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania, October 22. FRESHMEN Stephanie Koziol and Katie Hetherington, as well as sophomore Emily Wright, won two events apiece to lead the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team to a 169-124 victory over George Washington Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison captured first place in eight of the 16 events, but their depth led them to victory as they had two of the top three finishers in 13 events.

Freshmen contributed five total gold medals as rookie Lauren Perry won the 200 free, finishing one spot ahead of Koziol. Perry's time of 1 minute, 54.39 seconds ranks her 10th on the program's all-time list.

Koziol, who already ranks eighth in program history in the 400 IM, posted victories in the 200 back and 200 IM. She was one of four Bison in the top five in the 200 back, while she led a 1-2 Bucknell finish with Elizabeth Porcellio in the 200 IM.

Hetherington, who set the school record in one-meter diving in the season opener vs. UMBC three weeks ago, swept the diving events, which featured only Bucknell divers as the Colonials did not have any entrants.

Wright and Perry dominated the sprint free races, finishing 1-2 in both the 50 free and 100 free.

Kaitlyn Sweeney rounded out the list of Bison winners by capturing the 200 fly in 2:08.97.

While she did not win an event, Porcellio was second in three races (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM).

Bucknell is now 2-0 all-time against George Washington. The Bison defeated the Colonials 151.5-105.5 last year in Washington, D.C.

Bucknell will next be in action in two weeks when it travels to Annapolis, Md., to face Patriot League rivals American, Lafayette and Navy.
