UNC-Wilmington Tri Meet

WILMINGTON, North Carolina, October 7. ANNA Munger and Stephen Conrad won the men and women's 100 Butterfly, respectively to lead UNCW on the opening day of its meet against Richmond and Old Dominion. The Seahawks hold the lead in both women's meets while the men trail ODU.

Munger, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer-of-the-Week, clocked in at 56.55 to win the 100 Fly event. She would later join with junior Carly Tanner, senior Mattie Riley and sophomore Nicole Miller to win the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:34.32.

Conrad, meanwhile, fashioned a time of 50.06 to take the men's 100 Fly.

Joining Conrad with a win for the Seahawks was freshman Valtteri Halonen in the 100 Backstroke. Halonen posted a winning time of 51.25.

UNCW topped the Monarchs in the 200 Free relay to close out the opening day's activities. The relay of freshmen Drew Gaertner, Alex Labonge and Ned Tyler, along with Conrad, recorded a time of 1:25.54.

ODU set a pair of pool records on Friday with Yesim Girsemsulu breaking the women's 1650 Free record (16:59.70) and Arni Arnason the men's 100 Breast (55.34).

The meets conclude on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. at the Seahawk Natatorium.
