Kaplan Catches on as Assistant at Clemson University

CLEMSON, South Carolina, USA, August 30. CONTINUING the spree of assistant coaching hirings throughout the nation, Jonathan Kaplan has been named to the staff at Clemson University. Kaplan will aid head coach Christopher Ip with both the men’s and women’s squads at the Atlantic Coast Conference school. Kaplan was the head coach at the North Central Florida YMCA in Gainesville.

Also a graduate assistant at Florida State during the past two years, Kaplan is a 2002 graduate of that school and has experience as the head coach at Lawton Chiles High. Kaplan is expected to work with the distance freestylers and the 400 I.M. athletes. His coaching background also includes a stint as the head coach of the Venezuelan open-water team.

"We are extremely excited to bring Jonathan Kaplan on board to complete our coaching staff,” Ip said. "Jonathan brings a wealth of aquatic knowledge to the Tiger program from both the collegiate and club levels. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to observe his growth and development as an athlete into a solid educator. He has the ability to work with large programs but give athletes that special individual attention, and his meticulous eye for details ensures an efficient program.”
