The Woodlands Takes Team Title at Gulf Long Course Championships

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, USA, July 12. COMPETING at its home facility, the Woodlands Swim Team recently finished in first place at the Gulf Long Course Swimming Championships. The Woodlands accumulated 1,774 points to edge Blue Tide Aquatics, which finished with 1,707 points. Cy-Fair Swim Club was a distant third (658).

The Woodlands had the three-highest point scorers in the 11-and-12-year-old division, as Gray Umbach, Gabriel Garcia and Bryce Poeter swept the top positions on the male side. For the girls, the high scorer in the age group was Skylar Smith of the First Colony Swim Team. The other leading scorers were Blue Tide’s Lauren Day and Justin Buck in the 10-and-under group and Caroline McElhany (Aquastar) and Peter O’Brien (New Wave) in the 13-and-14-year-old classification. In the 15-and-over group, Blue Tide’s Leigh-Ann Axt and Paul Kornfeld were the high scorers.
