Wilson Named Head Coach at Georgia Tech -- June 9, 2005

ATLANTA, June 9. COMPLETING its search for a head coach of its men’s and women’s programs, Georgia Tech went with an inside candidate. The school announced Wednesday that Stuart Wilson would guide the Yellow Jackets. Wilson was an assistant coach the past three years under Seth Baron.

Wilson helped the Georgia Tech men finish third at last year’s Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, equaling the best effort in school history. The Yellow Jackets sent four swimmers – male and female combined - to the NCAA Championships in 2005, a record for the school.

“We are very excited to have Stuart Wilson lead our swimming and diving program,” said Dave Braine, Georgia Tech’s Director of Athletics. “He has more than proven himself as an assistant coach, and he deserves this opportunity. He has all the ingredients to be a very successful head coach.

“Stuart is committed to building our program with outstanding student-athletes. With the tremendous facility that we have, combined with the academic reputation of Georgia Tech and all the things that we have to offer, we feel that we can build a top swimming and diving program.”
