Web Site to be Launched for Duel in the Pool -- May 31, 2005 2005 Duel In The Pool

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 31. BEGINNING tomorrow (June 1), USA Swimming will run a Web site exclusively for the Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool, the head-to-head matchup between the United States and Australia, the world’s swimming superpowers.

Scheduled for August 2 at the Woollett Aquatic Center, the Duel in the Pool will follow the World Championships in Montreal. This year marks the second edition of the event, as the United States defeated the Australians in 2003.

By visiting www.duelinthepool.com, swimming fans can access the latest information on the event, including a glimpse of the U.S.-Australia rivalry and athlete profiles. Starting in July, visitors to the site will have the chance to take part in interactive opportunities.

“The Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool is such a major event, it merits its own Web site,” said Rod Davis, USA Swimming’s Chief Marketing Officer. “This site is an excellent tool for fans to stay updated on the rivalry between the United States and Australia, while learning more about Team USA’s new swimming stars.”

NBC Television will broadcast three hours of coverage on August 6 (4:30-6 p.m.) and August 7 (1-2:30 p.m.). Any athlete setting a world record during the Duel in the Pool will receive a $25,000 bonus.
