Countdown to Southern Cal Swim Series Has Begun

IRVINE, Calif., April 30. LESS than a month remains before the start of the Southern California Swim Series, a three-meet run that will feature some of the finest swimmers in the united States and from around the world.

The series kicks off May 27-29 with the Speed Grand Challenge, which will be held in Irvine at the William Woollett Aquatic Complex, site of the 2005 Duel in the Pool. Members of the British Swimming Federation are expected to attend.

The second stop of the series is the TYR Meet of Champions, orchestrated by the Mission Viejo Nadadores. The event is slated for June 16-19 and is expected to feature the Japanese World Championship Team.

A month later, the Janet Evans Invitational will be held at the McDonald's Swim Stadium, site of the 1984 Olympic Games. The JEI is scheduled for July 14-17 and will be the final tuneup for many athletes headed to Montreal for the World Championships.
