Colella Resigns as University of Tennessee Women’s Coach

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., March 31. THE University of Tennessee is in need of a women's swimming coach after Dan Colella submitted his resignation to Women's Athletic Director Joan Cronan.

After serving as an assistant coach from 1990-93, Colella guided the program from 1993-2005. According to a press release from the school, an immediate search for his successor will begin.

“We are grateful for Dan’s contributions to the program over the last 15 years,” Cronan said. “I especially appreciate his dedication to the Lady Vol family.”

Colella guided the Volunteers to a seventh-place finish at this year's Southeastern Conference Championships and a No. 22 ranking for the dual-meet season. Tennessee placed 24th at the NCAA Championships and broke five school records during the season. Colella led his athletes to 143 All-America honors during his stint in Knoxville.
