Pursley Picks Up Sectional Crown

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., March 10. PICKING up where he left off last November, David Pursley captured the 1,000-yard freestyle Wednesday night during the Western Blue Senior Sectionals, held at the King County Aquatic Center.

Representing the Brophy East Swim Team (BEST), Pursley clocked 9:07.42 for an eight-second victory. The time ranks third in the nation among 18-and-under competitors and was easily under the qualifying standard for Summer Nationals.

In November, Pursley earned a pair of Arizona state championships while representing Brophy Prep. Pursley took top honors in the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle.

Still sorting out his college options, Pursley is the son of Dennis Pursley, now coaching the Brophy East Swim Team. The elder Pursley is the former USA Swimming National Team Director.
