Georgia Tech Aqua Jackets Down Emory and North Florida

ATLANTA, GA, January 30. JUNIOR Laurissa Prystaj broke the school record on the women's one- (304.95) and three-meter springboards (330.30) and sophomore Tony Burkhardt set a new standard on the men's one-meter board (346.58) to lead the Georgia Tech men's and women's swimming and diving teams on Sunday afternoon in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, per GT reports.

No. 25 Tech defeated Emory, 179-118, while the women downed Emory, 184-11, and North Florida, 186-106, as they completed the meets postponed by snow.

"We're very pleased with how our seniors finished their dual meet careers with consecutive wins over Clemson, Emory and North Florida," said head coach Seth Baron. "Now, we will focus on the ACC Championships, which will be competed in our home pool in the Aquatic Center."

Burkhardt also finished first on the men's three-meter board with a personal-best tally of 341.40. Senior Michelle Maguire finished first in the women's 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:36.95.

Sophomore Ryan Bishop registered three first-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (58.79), 200 breaststroke (2:06.54) and 400 IM (3:59.40), finishing with a season-best time in the IM.

Sophomore Alison Walker posted first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events for the Yellow Jackets. Walker swam a season-best time of 1:06.36 in the women's 100 breast and finished with a time of 2:26.40 in the 200 breast.

Seniors Jeremy Raines and Jaclyn Keys tallied first-place finishes for Tech in the men's and women's 100 backstroke with times of 51.96 and 1:00.22, respectively. Senior Anna Saum finished second in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.43.

Junior Jason Howard registered a first-place finish for Tech in the men's 50 free with a time of 24.35. In the women's 50 free, senior Moeko Wallis finished first with a time of 24.35.

Freshmen Elizabeth Stowe and Onur Uras tallied two first-place finishes for the Rambling Wreck. Stowe finished with times of 5:01.99 and 10:10.51 in the women's 500 and 1000 free events, while Uras finished with a time of 1:54.16 in the men's 200 butterfly and a time of 47.99 in the 100 free to capture those events.

Sophomore Vesna Stojanovska won the women's 200 fly with a time of 2:09.24 and junior Ashley Kracke captured the women's 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.72.

Senior Ann Battle tallied a pair of fourth-place finishes in the women's 500 and 1000 free events, finishing with times of 5:11.84 and 10:33.45, respectively. Senior Matt Figh finished second in the men's 1000 free (9:47.01) and third in the 200 back (1:55.95).

The men's 200 Medley Relay team of Raines, Alex Williams, Ofer Finkler and Brian Huff swam a season-best time of 1:35.01 to finish first in the relay event.

Georgia Tech will host the men's and women's Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, Feb. 16-19 (women) and Feb. 23-26 (men), in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. All meets are free admission in the GTAC.
