Christmas Forum Duke Kahanamoku Sprint Meet in the Books -- January 1, 2005

HONOLULU, HI, January 1. THE annual Christmas Forum Duke Kahanamoku Sprint Meet went off without any snags. Hiram College, Coe College, and Houston joined Hawai`i yesterday in the yard-shortened meet, reports Markus Owens of UH.

The four-team, non-scored meet is set up for visiting teams from that travel to Hawai`i for training purposes during the Christmas and New Year holiday season.

The sprint meet consists of smaller versions of regular events such as the 50-yard butterfly, 50 breaststroke, and 100 individual medley.

Several UH swimmers improved on their season-best times at today's meet, including Matt Chun (100 Fly, 57.32), Nick Cabebe (200 Free, 2:06.81), Joe Andrew (50 Free, 22.71), Chad Thomsen (50 Free, 22.59) on the men's side.

For the Rainbow Wahine, individual best performances were clocked in by Carly Mitchell (50 Free, 25.47 / 200 Free, 2:04.31), Mia Broden (50 Free, 26.31), and Jaclyn Rosen (100 Free, 1:00.75).



One schedule change for the UH divers:
The UH Diving Invitational has been moved up to January 8 & 9 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex to accommodate all of the visiting teams. The event begin on the 8th at 2:30 p.m. with the men's 1-meter, followed by the women's 3-meter one hour later. On the 9th, the women's 1-meter starts at 9 a.m., followed by the men's 3-meter and men and women's platform.
