USA Swimming Sends Nine Athletes to FINA Open Water World Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, November 26. USA Swimming has announced America’s competitors in the 3rd FINA Open Water World Championships, to be held Nov. 26-Dec. 2 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The U.S. delegation 2000 Olympic 1500 medalist Chris Thompson, short-course world championship medalist Sara McLarty and long-time open water stalwarts Briley Bergen and Erica Rose. You can see a story about Thompson recently added to the Premium Section at SwimInfo.com.

The full roster includes:

Briley Bergen (Tampa, Fla./Bolles Sharks/10K, 25K);
Beth Byrum (Spring, Texas/Klein Aquatics/5K);
Sara McLarty (DeLand, Fla./Florida and Daytona Beach/5K);
Erica Rose (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Lake Erie/10K, 25K);
Jeremy Gregory (Puyallup, Wash./Tacoma/5K);
John Kenny (Horsham, Pa./Germantown Academy Aquatics/10K, 25K);
Robert Langsett (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Ft. Lauderdale Aquatics/10K);
Sean Seaver (Ketchikan, Alaska/Tacoma/25K); and
Chris Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Club Wolverine/5K).

Twenty-seven countries and 92 swimmers are expected to participate in the event, a new record for a FINA Open Water World Championship.
