USA Swimming Sends Nine Athletes to FINA Open Water World Championships -- November 26, 2004

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, November 26. USA Swimming has announced America’s competitors in the 3rd FINA Open Water World Championships, to be held Nov. 26-Dec. 2 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The U.S. delegation 2000 Olympic 1500 medalist Chris Thompson, short-course world championship medalist Sara McLarty and long-time open water stalwarts Briley Bergen and Erica Rose. You can see a story about Thompson recently added to the Premium Section at

Briley Bergen (Tampa, Fla./Bolles Sharks/10K, 25K);
Beth Byrum (Spring, Texas/Klein Aquatics/5K);
Sara McLarty (DeLand, Fla./Florida and Daytona Beach/5K);
Erica Rose (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Lake Erie/10K, 25K);
Jeremy Gregory (Puyallup, Wash./Tacoma/5K);
John Kenny (Horsham, Pa./Germantown Academy Aquatics/10K, 25K);
Robert Langsett (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Ft. Lauderdale Aquatics/10K);
Sean Seaver (Ketchikan, Alaska/Tacoma/25K); and
Chris Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Club Wolverine/5K).

Twenty-seven countries and 92 swimmers are expected to participate in the event, a new record for a FINA Open Water World Championship.
