Short Court World Championships, Day Three: Edmistone is Fastest in 100 Breast Semifinals -- October 9, 2004

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, October 9. After a three-way battle in semifinal #2 of the women’s 100 meter breaststroke, Jade Edmistone (AUS) leads all qualifiers at 1:05.94.

Also in semifinal #2, world record holder Tara Kirk was second at 1:06.20, with 50 breaststroke winner Brooke Hanson third in 1:06.32.

The USA’s Amanda Beard won a hard fought battle in heat one, touching in 1:06.99 to edge Austria’s Mirna Jukic at 1:07.04, but they will both have to improve significantly to have a chance to earn a medal tomorrow night.

Edmistone, the 50 meter world record holder, led from the beginning with a :31.04 split at the 50, returning in :34.90 on the back half.
