NCAA Women's Swimming: #4 Stanford Defeats #6 Cal -- February 17, 1999

BERKELEY, CA - No. 4 Stanford (9-2 overall, 4-1 in the Pac-10) set five Spieker Pool records en route to a 153-145 road win over No. 6 California (11-3, 4-2) in the final dual meet of the season for both teams. Stanford is now 24-0 all-time against California.

Junior Catherine Fox (Shawnee Mission, KS/Bishop Miege HS) and sophomore Misty Hyman (Phoenix, AZ/Shadow Mountain HS) set two pool records apiece. Fox set new Spieker Pool marks in the 50-yard freestyle (23.26) and 200-yard backstroke (1:59.94), while Hyman swam her way into the Cal record book in the 100-yard butterfly (52.68) and 200-yard butterfly (1:55.89).

Stanford will next shoot for its 13th straight conference title at the Pac-10 Championships on February 25-27 in Federal Way, Washington.
