NCAA Women's Swimming: Stanford Defeats UCLA -- February 2, 1999

STANFORD, CA - Sophomore Misty Hyman (Phoenix, AZ/Shadow Mountain HS) won two events to lead second-ranked Stanford (5-2 overall, 2-1 in the Pac-10) to a 180-112 dual meet victory over No. 17 UCLA (6-2-1, 1-2-1) at deGuerre Pool. Stanford has now won 38 straight dual meets at deGuerre Pool dating back to the 1987-88 season, and is 37-0 at home under 11th-year head coach Richard Quick.

Hyman, the 1998 NCAA Swimmer of the Year, won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:56.84, over two seconds better than her previous season-best of 1:58.90. Her time was also well under the NCAA Championship automatic qualifying standard of 2:00.09.
