IN 2000, Misty Hyman pulled off one of the greatest upsets in Olympic history, winning the 200 fly in Olympic record time, and defeating Australia's "Madame Butterfly," Susie O'Neill — invincible the previous six years — before a stunned hometown crowd of almost 20,000 and a worldwide television audience of more than one billion.

This year, beset by injuries and illness, Misty failed to make the US Olympic team.
